ABOUT THE LEGAL SYSTEM

The Barbados legal system has its roots in English common law in a fashion similar to other Commonwealth Countries. Barbados has a Constitution which creates a Legislature, Judiciary and Executive (Cabinet).

Key pieces of business legislation such as the Companies Act Cap. 308 of the Laws of Barbados and the Income Tax Act Cap. 73 of the Laws of Barbados are based on aspects of Canadian Law.

Barbados is a member of the Caribbean Community and a member of the Caribbean Court of Justice. Barbados has entered into Double Taxation Agreements and Trade Agreements including the agreements of the World Trade Organisation.

Every client is entitled to the best representation possible. Whether the client is the claimant or the respondent in the matter your case will be treated with the best care possible.

We offer our clients considered legal advice.
